BPC-157 comes up in almost every peptide conversation about healing. People use it for tendons, joints, and gut trouble. The stories are everywhere online. The hard data is a lot thinner than the hype. Here is the honest version.
BPC-157 is a short peptide. The name stands for “body protection compound,” and it comes from a protein found in stomach juice. It has been studied mostly in animals. You can see the full profile on our BPC-157 page.
In animal studies, BPC-157 speeds healing of tendon, muscle, and gut tissue, and it calms inflammation. Those results are fairly consistent across a lot of rodent studies.
Here is the catch. There are almost no controlled human trials. So most of what you read online is animal research plus personal stories. That is interesting. It is not proof.
The reports that stand out are about stubborn injuries. Tendons and joints that did not get better with normal care. Gut issues that finally settled down. It is often stacked with TB-500.
This is the part most sites gloss past, so I will say it plainly.
BPC-157 helps healing partly by growing new blood vessels and by prompting cells to grow and move. Tumors use those same processes to grow and to spread. So in theory, the same effect that heals a tendon could also feed a cancer that a person does not know they have.
It is unproven either way. But it matters most if you have a personal or family history of cancer. I would rather put that on the table than pretend the question is not there.
BPC-157 is not FDA-approved. In July 2026 an FDA advisory panel voted to recommend it for pharmacy compounding. That vote is advisory, and nothing has actually changed yet. We wrote up what that vote does and does not mean in this post.
Promising in animals. Loved by a lot of users. Short on human proof. It is worth watching, worth caution, and worth a real conversation with a doctor if you are thinking about it.
