DSIP is a naturally occurring nonapeptide first identified in the 1970s from delta-wave (deep) sleep experiments. It's studied for sleep quality and stress resilience and is popular among people seeking a non-sedative sleep aid.
It's not FDA-approved and is sold as a research chemical; notably, the science behind it remains surprisingly unsettled.
DSIP appears to promote slow-wave sleep and interact with stress-response and circadian/neuroendocrine systems, but no single receptor or validated pathway has been established - its mechanism is genuinely not well understood.
